Summary:

Being connected to Daemon Black sucks…

Thanks to his alien mojo, Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro connection. So I’ve sworn him off, even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But we’ve got bigger problems.

Something worse than the Arum has come to town…

The Department of Defense are here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we’re linked, I’m a goner. So is he. And there’s this new boy in school who’s got a secret of his own. He knows what’s happened to me and he can help, but to do so, I have to lie to Daemon and stay away from him. Like that’s possible. Against all common sense, I’m falling for Daemon. Hard.

But then everything changes…

I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he’s never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?

No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies…

If you guys have read my review of Obsidian, it’s prequel, then you know how much I loved it, and this one didn’t disappoint either.I loved it about just as much as Obsidian. I can’t talk too much about the book without spoiling the first, but I will say a couple of questions that popped up at the end of Obsidian were answered. It was just as well written, Katy was just as relatable. She did make a lot, like a lot, of dumb decisions, especially towards the end, and I’m still upset with her over that. Daemon is just as swoon-worthy. We meet new characters in this book, the first important one being Blake, I’m not going to talk much about him either. This book in my opinion was a really strong sequel to an already amazing book, and the series is going in a strong direction in my opinion. I’m really looking forward to Opal. The ending especially was amazing! I’m finally getting my physical copies of them soon so yay! Really sorry I can’t say much about the book, just that I really enjoyed it! The series is amazing!                                                                    You can read my review of Obsidian here.

Spoilers ↓

Obsidian ended in a little confusing way, something had happened between Daemon and Katy, he’d “healed” her and now they were in sync, and then he wanted to be with her, it was complicated, but it was all sorted out in this book.

OMG, okay so Daemon and Katy’s relationship has to be the sexiest one I’ve ever read about, and it’s physical, but it’s not all physical. I don’t know how to explain it, they’re just so perfect for each other. Their relationship is adorable, she gives him the finger, they’re always arguing and she;s always cussing at him, and it’s super cute. Besides the alien factoid, they’re my ideal relationship. Throughout the book Daemon is telling her that he likes her, and is trying to make her understand that it has nothing to do with the connection, but good old Katy doesn’t believe him. I love when she starts finally realizing that she’s falling for him, and it’s just, god, it’s just perfect. The buildup of their relationship, amazingly done.

Like I said before Katy is the most relatable character because she’s a book blogger, but it’s not only that to me at least, she’s like literally me. Ever since she first met Daemon and he told her he doesn’t think she should hang out with Dee and she said “and I don’t give two shits what you thing” I was just like this girl is my doppelganger. She also loves History, so do I. I love how Daemon kept checking up on her blog, and kept making references to it, like the ALA thing, awe ♥

A little note I took while reading it lol:

I love how in the end when she did say she loved him, and he was all I won the bet, and she told him it was January 2nd so he lost, and he said “Nope I still win” you know because he had her now, and I just I broke down, just, so beautiful.

Okay now onto Blake, the moment he showed up I knew there was something up with him, I thought he’d be evil but I was hoping he wasn’t, that he was just one of the good guys because I really liked him. I never fully trusted him, but I wasn’t as skeptical as Daemon was. I also blamed most of his skepticism on jealousy, that was pretty obvious. When Blake threw the knife at her in practice and Daemon went all off on him, lol, I wasn’t as pissed because he’s made a really good point. She needed a strong emotion to channel her power. Now the Arum thing, that was a different story, I thought he was crazy, like there’s a line and you crossed it.

When she figured out that Blake was related to Brian, and decided to NOT TELL DAEMON…just, ugh. It’s totally her fault that Adam is dead, idc what anyone else says, it’s her fault. It doesn’t make me like her any less because I guess she didn’t really intend that, but I’m a bit disappointed. I love that Dee understood that something was wrong though, now that’s what a best friend is. It was so unfair that Adam died though, just when his and Dee’s relationship was getting awesome, bam he dies.

That Will character, I had my suspicions since I met him. When he came to pick her up from school on the basis that her mom was in an accident, I knew it was fake. There was also a exact situation like this in one of the Hush Hush books.

Then the whole ending with Dawson, he was so heartbroken but then Dawson was at his house, and the reunion awe. But then, something’s wrong with Dawson and I wanna know how that works out. I’m really looking forward to Opal!

Share your thoughts! Have you read Opal yet? What’d you think? xx

  1. I’m glad that the sequel is just as good as the first. Thanks for not spoiling the first book, I haven’t read it yet. It’s always hard to review sequels, but you did a nice job. I hate it when heroines make stupid decisions, must make it easier to write the book.

  2. Oh myyyyyy, I LOVE the LUX series, I still haven’t read the last one yet – I think it’s because I’m not ready for the series to end yet and I’m sort of bracing myself hahaha. I’ve heard it’s amazing, I really need to read it! Great post! 😀
