As you probably know The 5th Wave is my favorite book of the year ( along with Eleanor & Park) , so I had extremely high expectations for this book, and not only did it meet them, it blew past them. It  was such a strong sequel to an already amazing book. The 5th Wave left us with a very  big, and important question, so rest assured, it is answered in this book.We get to read from Ringer’s POV in this book, which was amazing. We learn about her background and her life. We also get a bit more information on Poundcake. It was really nice to see  how Rick made all his characters relevant in the book.                    The whole book, even The 5th Wave, it really makes you second guess a lot of things, what it truly means to be human; I love the way he writes his books and characters so deeply. The way the book ended, just wow, like there’s a twist that I don’t fully comprehend yet, I’m really looking forward to the last book next year. If this is going the way it seems like it is, then just wow. He really knows how to write a book. Like I said in my review for it’s prequel, with this book you never truly knew what was going on, or what would happen; you’d make an assumption and just get the rug pulled from under you. I have to say Cassie is amazing, love that girl. She’s definitely up there with Katniss as best heroine. I don’t know how she does it, I don’t think i’d survive a day in The 5th Wave. We also find out more about the Silencers, and what they truly are, and trust me, it’s good, it’s really good; shocking and unexpected, but good. Also, love played a pretty big role, it felt like everyone was kissing someone at some point lol. When The 5th Wave ended, we thought love triangle? Now it’s more like love pentagon, and the thing is, I ship them all, that’s how good. But it’s not like cheesy love, romance whatever, it’s just love is one of those things that makes us human, so it’s deemed dangerous. The way it ended, I feel like it’ll play an important role in the last book. We’ve already seen what love could do ( yes I’m referring to a very specific character that we all know and love, but I won’t mention the name because alas spoilers! But if you’ve read The 5th Wave then you know who 😀 ) .

.Anyways, I think that’s all I can say without spoilers, but I think I did pretty good as this is a sequel. Honestly, guys if you haven’t read The 5th Wave yet, you really should.

Okay, so the book starts off with another awesome prologue, I thought was a sneak peak at the 6th Wave, but it wasn’t not exactly. I don’t think there are any more waves.

We then get Ringer’s point of view, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I didn’t like the feud between her and Cassie though, but I guess they’re too alike to get along. Then we find out her name is Marika, which is super cool.

Then we have the Evan situation. He’s now human, he never really was not human. The same thing they did to him was done to Ringer in this book, but she’s still human, just a bit evolved. At the end of the book, what we’re trying to understand is that there might never have been any aliens in the first place, this whole thing might’ve been done by humans. For what? I don’t know, maybe they were trying to evolve everyone like Evan and Ringer. I’m truly confused, which is why I love those books so much. You can try, but you’ll never really figure out what’s going on until he wants you to know. I’m so excited for the next and last book in the series, because that’s when we’ll get to know everything. Was this reall an alien invasion? I’m super happy about the fact that Evan is now just like Cassie again. I love those two. I mentioned in my review for The 5th Wave how the ending hinted at a love triangle, well…. The thing is I really love Ben and Cassie together, they make such a great team, but I really love Ben and Ringer together, they also make a great team. Evan and Ringer would also actually make a pretty great team, and obviously Evan and Cassie are just epic. Literally, everyone was kissing everyone in this book. Then there’s the whole Razor dilemma. Their relationship if we can even call it that, really reminded me of Evan and Cassie back in the first book. I don’t even know what to think of Razor, it’s really confusing. I trusted him and then he betrayed her, which I didn’t see coming, then he saved her and tried to get her to leave and then on page 291 something happens between them, and I don’t even know anymore.

Evan came back at the end of the book, which I was really happy about because I didn’t want for Rick to end the boo with Cassie thinking he was dead again.

Also, Poundcake died in the book. We got to read from his perspective as well, and found out more about him and why he doesn’t speak. The little kid in the prologue was his little brother, that was so messed up. I love how Rick makes his characters really relevant before he kills them off. Had Poundcake died in the last book, I don’t think it would’ve been as significant as it was in this book because we knew him better now, we understood him better.

Then there’s Teacup whom I really didn’t like. I’m not even sure what happened to her at the end, I don’t remember.

Now let’s talk about my favorite heroine, Cassie Sullivan. Love her. When she met Grace and she said: “Fuck you and the horse you rode in on, you fucking alien motherfucker”  That was probably my favorite line in the book. She’s going to end it, she’s going to go to Grace’s “house” wait for the “mothership” and end it, whatever it actually is. I’m really looking forward to it, and to the movie adaptation in 2016.
