Shadowhunters TV Show | Clary , Alec and Luke Casting

Katherine McNamara

We have our Clary!

Katherine McNamara has been cast as Clary Fray in ABC Family’s adaptation of Shadowhunters.

I have no idea who she is, so let’s IMBD her.

She started of on Broadway. and she’s been on a couple Disney shows. She’s 19 and 5’4 which is perfect.

I’m pretty okay with this, I mean she does look like her, I know she’s blond right now, but I hope when they color her hair they give her the deeper red that Lily had because I think that fit Clary better.

Now we have  Alec and Magnus as the rest of the main characters left to be casted. There are obviously others like Max, The Lightwood Parents, Hodge, Church (lol). I don’t care much for Alec’s casting because I don’t care much for his character, but oh dear lord they better get Magnus right, I mean I rant about this and about how Godfrey is so perfect in every casting post I’ve made, but really, I’m waiting

What are your thoughts on our Clary?

Lol, Apparently I’m really behind on all this because Alec and Luke have also been casted.

Matthew Daddario has been cast as Alec Lightwood and Isaiah Mustafa has been cast as Luke Garroway

Matthew Daddario Picture

This is Matthew, aka Alec. I mean like I said, I don’t really care about this casting, but I do see it, kind of.

According to IMDB he’s been in a couple movies.

I don’t think I’ve seen any of them but yeah.

What are your thoughts on Alec? I know a lot of you love him. I really liked Kevin as him in the movie, but I’m open minded.

Now let’s talk about Luke.

Isaiah Mustafa Picture

This isn’t the Luke I think anyone imagined, but I dig it. I can’t wait to see Jocelyn now lol. This is great, I can totally see him as Luke the werewolf.

According to IMDB he’s been in Horrible Bosse, Nikita (which is the show Tori’s character in Divergent plays in) and a lot of others.

Apparently in the show Luke is a NYPD detective, which I mean, that’s cool. That’s a nice twist to his character. In the book he owned a book store, but being a detective in the show does make him more badass, and Isaiah has been in NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles so he probably knows how to play the detective role well.

I’m loving this cast so far.

What about you guys? Who’s been your favorite casting so far? Least Favorite?

My favorite would probably be Izzy, or Jace.

Shadowhunters TV Show | Isabelle and Simon Casting

Alberto Rosende and Emeraude Toubia have been cast as Simon and Isabelle

Yup, looks like we have our Simon and Izzy. I love Isabelle’s actress, she looks exactly like the Iz I pictured. She’s remotely unknown, she’s played in a few spanish movies apparently, but nonetheless, I think she looks like a Lightwood. I think she’s spanish, which is great because it adds diversity to the show, I just hope she doesn’t have an  accent, or if she does  then I hope the  whole Lightwood family has one too just so it adds up, or maybe she just  spent some time in a spanish speaking country to have picked up the accent. I like that she’s unknown and I’m excited to see how she does.

Simon…..well I guess you all know how much I loved Robbie, I talked about it in the Jace Casting Post, so I’m a bit upset that he’s not Simon again. He doesn’t really scream Simon to me, I don’t know, maybe I’m biased. I like that he’s hispanic too, it makes him and Izzy even cuter lol. He was in Blue Bloods which is another Book To TV Adaptation, and this other movie called The Swing of Things, I’ll have to watch a couple episodes of Blue Bloods to see how I like his acting, and maybe then I’ll start to see more of Simon in him. I guess this means they’ll recast Magnus too ): That casting better be as perfect as Godfrey was.

What are your thoughts on all this?

PS: Sorry I haven’t been posting as much, it’s almost finals/ SAT Time so it’ll probably be that way for the next couple of weeks, sorry!

Shadowhunters TV Show | Jace Wayland Casting

So it came to my attention a couple days ago that Dominic Sherwood was casted as Jace. Sorry I didn’t post about this earlier, but wow. I was very shocked when I heard the news, I was watching Sasha’s video and I was confused and shocked. I mean when I look at him I don’t think Jace, but now that the idea has settled, I think he’ll do great. I loved him as Christian in the Vampire Academy movie, and Christian is like my second favorite male character in the whole series (he was my favorite before Adrian blessed us with his presence) and I loved Dominic as him. He definitely had the dark, mysterious Ozera vibe going on, and Christian is kinda similar to Jace too so he’ll do a phenominal job. I hope he grows his hair out because that’s one thing I really liked about Jamie, the long hair. I wonder how he’ll look in blond hair, and I hope they give him gold contacts too, I mean his eyes are already unique and gorgeous, but Jace has his thing.

There he is as the lovely Christian

I see it guys, I totally see it! (Well, he kind of looks more like Will in that picture lol) I’m excited, I think this is going to be amazing. I really hope they get Robbie to play Simon again, I mean he was perfection. As for Magnus if they don’t get Godfrey, then I don’t know what they’re doing. He didn’t get a lof of screen time in the movie, but he was the perfect Magnus Bane, exactly how I pictured him, like 100% and they’re going to have a hard time finding someone else who can do that. Everyone else honestly can be replaced, except for those two because they were perfect. I just checked Godfrey’s IMDB though and it seems that he’s already doing 3 tv shows this year, so he might be a bit busy, but I hope they reach out to him anyways! Robbie doesn’t seem as busy, he was in The Messenger apparently and that role is complete and he has 2 shows in post production which I’m assuming are for this year although there isn’t one listed next to it and he has one show for 2016.  Izzy’s actress was good too, I didn’t like her at first because she didn’t scream Izzy to me, but watching her play her, she grew on me. She doesn’t seem to be as busy, she was in a movie called Kidnapping Mr. Heineken and that came out this year, and she has a mini tv series going on, so she might be available.

I already said that I was good with them aging up the characters, I actually think it’s a fantastic idea. I’m so excited to see what this show brings, honestly I’m really open minded about it, and it’d have to really suck for me to stop watching it. Next January guys, same time The 5th Wave comes out (:

PS: I kind of want to audition for Maya lol

The Mortal Instruments TV Show | News, Rumors, Thoughts

So we all know by now that The Mortal Instruments is being turned into a TV Show after the movie wasn’t that successful.

I’ll just rundown through what we know so far:

  • We know it’s set to start production in May
  • Production starts in Vancouver
  • They’re doing casting right now, so look up auditions if you want to join! ( I kinda want to lol)
  • They apparently aged up the characters
  • Clary is an ART major
  • SImon is apparently an accounting student
  • It will air on ABC Family

Here’s what we’re going from:

tmishow4  tmishow3

tmishow2              tmishow

First I’d like to talk about the name “Shadowhunters”, I don’t like it, I feel like this is an unpopular opinion but I feel like it’s a bit cheesy, maybe it’ll grow on me, but I don’t understand why they wouldn’t just call it The Mortal Instruments. I get that maybe they didn’t want to link it to the movie, but still.

The characters being aged up I don’t mind much, they’re trying to attract a larger audience, so I’m fine with that, and it’s not like they’re being aged up that much.

Clary being an ART student is also fine by me, because I think that had she not been introduced to The Shadow World (which would’ve been another good name for the show) when she was 16, then that’s most likely the major she would’ve chosen. As for Simon the accountant, I don’t know, I don’t really mind that much either, I mean I can see it as something regular old COB Simon would do.

Simon apparently has this girlfriend named Natalie and she’s part of the band, that actually doesn’t bother me either, I just hope they keep the story line that he’s still in love with Clary, because that’s really important to the story and his character. I hope they include the other members of the band too, especially Eric because his van comes in handy a couple of times, and he has o be Simon’s best friend at the end of CoHF.

ABC Family. I love ABC Family, I mean they air my favorite show Pretty Little Liars as well as The Fosters, and a couple other successful shows, so I think that a good network for it, because it already has a targeted audience watching it. Even the Pretty Little Liars and The Fosters fans who have never read or heard of the books will probably watch the pilot, so that was a smart move because both those shows have a strong fanbase. A lot of people thought it’d air on The CW, because that channel has been putting out some good shows lately, I mean The Vampire Diaries, The 100, Reign, Arrow, The Flash… I actually thought it’d air on Starz just like Outlander does for a little while.

I’m sad that we don’t get to keep the same Simon and Magnus from the movie because they were perfect.

Anyways, I really hope this show isn’t disappointing. I think it’ll do fine, and even though they’re making some changes, so far I think it’s on a good path, except for the technology part.

Top Ten Tuesday | Characters Who Should Get Their Own Book

I haven’t done one of these in forever.

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is Top Ten Characters You Wish Would Get Their OWN Book (minor or just maybe a semi main character you wish a book was from their POV).

Here we go, in no particular order:

10. Nico Di Angelo (PJO/HOO)

He is such an interesting character, we finally got to read from his perspective in Blood of Olympus, and that was amazing. I thin that if we’d gotten a series about him just like we did with Percy, it would’ve been amazing.

9. Simon Lewis (TMI)

My favorite sidekick. He is getting his own series of short stories, so I’m happy about that. He’s just such a great character and he’s always been taken for granted, even by me. I didn’t realize his true awesomeness until City of Heavenly Fire, I’ve always known he was awesome but I din’t realize to what extent until then.

8. Magnus Bane (TMi)

He’s also already gotten his own series, came out today actually, so go get it! Magnus Bane is wonderful.

7. Charlotte and Henry Branwell (TID)

As you can tell I do love Cassie’s books.Charlotte and Henry were such great characters in The Infernal Devices. The way they cared for WIll and Jem and Jessie and the way they welcomed Tessa, they were all just such great people. Their relationship was heartwarming. I’d love to know more about them.

6. Effie Trinket (THG)

Ooh, we all love Effie. I want to know more about her character.

5. Kenji Kashimoto (Shatter Me)

The world’s best best friend. I love Kenji, I really do and I’d love to read more from him.

4. Uriah Pedrad (Divergent)

Oh Uriah. I love Uriah. He’s such a great character, probably my favorite in the entire series. I would love to know more about him.

3. The Weasley Twins (HP)

I didn’t want to include Harry Potter characters because I haven’t finished the series yet, and I haven’t read the short stories accompanying them so I don’t know who has their own story and who doesn’t and I don’t want to spoil myself anymore then I already have ): I adore the Weasley twins, you don’t even understand, they’re my babies.

2. Finnick and Annie Odair (THG)

I think it’s self explanatory. I love Finnick and I’d love to know more about Annie. I’d love to know about his games and Annie’s, or really all the other victors, especially Haymitch’s and Mags and the others.

That’s really all I can think of right now. If I come up with anyone else, I’ll add them in.

‘The Mortal Instruments’ TV series update

I hope at the very least they keep Magnus and Simon. Also that they cast Raphie (: Changing the whole cast is a bit weird though, aren’t they starting where they ended, so with City of Ashes?

TMI Source

Thanks to our friend Nadine at TMI Germany we have Martin Moszkowicz’ interview with the German newspaper “Süddeutsche Zeitung” where he talks about The Mortal Instruments being turned into a TV series.

What we already knew from The Hollywood Reporter:

  • Ed Decter is the showrunner
  • the series is currently under development and will begin production next year
  • no broadcast partners are yet attached

What’s new:

  • Constantin Film aims to spend 2.5 to 5 million Euros per episode ($3,000,000 to 6,300,000), which would probably also apply to The Mortal Instruments
  • Ed Decter is the main author for the first (!) season
  • Martin thinks that Amazon could be interested in the TV series. The episodes and books could be on the same page so that you could buy them with one simple click

This morning (German time) Martin also tweeted:

The Mortal Instruments to Return as a TV Series

Yay? Or Nay?
I’m not sure. It has potential, it could be really good! I just hope they don’t drag it like they can sometimes do with other shows, and that most importantly, they stick to the books.
They said the reason why CoB was so bad was because they had to fit so much into little time, which is true so now that they have a wider time frame they should just incorporate everything without any major changes.

TMI & TID which to read first?

So the question:

Should I read The Mortal Instruments first or The Infernal Devices first?
I come to you today with a simple way to figure out your answer to that questions.
Here we go, think about the question I’m about to ask you, and answer genuinely.

Would you rather go back to the past or go to the future?
If you answered go back to the past then you should read TMI first and then TID. Why? Because you’d prefer going back in time already knowing the future, and reading them in that order will be doing just that.
If you answered go to the future, then you should read TID first and then TMI. Why? Because you’d rather go forward in time already knowing the past, and reading them in that order will be doing just that.
Hope this helped! If you’d like to know, I’d rather go back in the past. Hence, I read TID after TMI.
I know Cassie and others recommend reading them in the publication order, and If you can do that then props to you, and definitely do. I myself probably could not. Once you start reading Clockwork Angel, you’ll most likely won’t want to stop and pick up the next TMI book instead, so it’ll be hard.
The publication order If you’re interested:

-City of Bones {2007}
-City of Ashes {2008}
-City of Glass {2009}
-Clockwork Angel {2010}
-City of Fallen Angels {2011}
-Clockwork Prince {2011}
-City of Lost Souls {2012}
-Clockwork Princess ♡ {2013}
-City of Heavenly Fire {2014}
★ I might of switched up CP and CoFA, but I think it’s right ★

If you don’t want to do the publication order way, nor do you want to do the past/future way; then I have another way.

Read it in that order:
There, now you have three ways (:
Whatever you do, make sure you read all 3 of The Infernal Devices BEFORE reading City of Heavenly Fire.
Xoxo ♡
Also Happy 4th July everyone(who celebrates it) !♡♥♡

The Shadowhunter Chronicles | An open letter to Cassandra Clare ♡

Today I’ll just be talking about the Shadowhunter Chronicles. I was planning on doing this and then also writing a letter of appreciation to Cassie, but then I realized what I wanted to say in here is basically what I wanted to say in the letter, so I mashed them up.
I’m first going to start by talking about how I found out about The Mortal Instruments and how my wonderful journey with this fantastic world started.
I actually talked a little about it in my City of Heavenly Fire Theories post a little while back (:
It was back in July of last year and I was just watching tv. It was during commercial break and I was on my phone, then the screen turned black for a second so I looked up, and the trailer for the movie started. It was the 2:30 minutes long trailer and I watched it all and remembered being in awe. It was so beautiful and seemed like something I would love. So you guys know the name to a mundane eye is pretty long The Mortal Instruments : City of Bones so naturally I didn’t get to memorize it just yet. Then a couple days later the trailer came on again, and this time I was prepared, I took my phone, opened up notes and typed it in. Then I looked it up obviously, and I was shocked and happy to find out that it was actually a book series (I’ve always loved reading) . I made the mistake of reading the wiki plot summary which totally spoiled the first book for me, then idk it was just so good that I read the summary for all 5 of them, which then of course spoiled the entire series for me; but it in no way lessened my affection for the series. After that, I went on to my e-reader and got all of them. I read them all and it was actually so frustrating for me to read CoA and CoG because all along I knew they weren’t actually siblings. Nonetheless, I read them all and loved them all. So then I watched the movie when it came out, and I really enjoyed it. Yes,  a lot of the content wasn’t the same as the book, but it was a pretty decent adaptation, and a great movie. I’m still hoping they film CoA because it should be an easier adaptation. CoB was a lot of world building and I understand it must’ve been hard to try to adapt it all into to movie, but with CoA we already know the world so it should be easier, and besides not much happens compared to let’s say CoG.
My favorite characters from TMI are definitely Izzy,Magnus, and now Simon.

After reading the books and seen the movie I was anticipating the release of CoHF like everyone else and it did not disappoint. (my review if you’re interested x )

I followed all the snippets that came out, and everyone was always talking about a Tessa, and I knew she was from The Infernal Devices and I hadn’t read that, so I did that. I knew I had to read them before CoHF and I did, back in February of this year. I loved them so much. I read all 3 of them in a span of about 4 days ♡.
Clockwork Angel took me 8 hours.
Clockwork Prince took me 2 days.
Clockwork Princess took me 1.5 days.
I do prefer it over TMI. I feel like it was better written, and I don’t know, maybe it’s the time period but I just feel like it’s better. Clockwork Princess is my favorite of the three, but I loved them all. Clockwork Princess is also my favorite book of Cassie’s that I’ve read.

My favorites in order (all 9) :
1. Clockwork Princess
2.Clockwork Angel
3.City of Heavenly Fire
4.City of Glass
5.Clockwork Prince
6.City of Lost Souls
7.City of Bones
8.City of Ashes
9.City of Fallen Angels

But don’t get me wrong, I absolutely loved each and every single one of them.
(I haven’t read The Shadowhunters Codex or The Bane Chronicles yet {I’m waiting for the bind up to be released in November, and I’ll read them all then ♡ }

Cassie’s books, and this world she’s created really changed me. I can’t really explain it, it just did; and If you’ve read and loved her books as much as me then you can probably relate.
My favorite character is Izzy because I can relate to her the most, right down to the bad cooking skills lol , in a lot of ways I’m just like her, and I really love that.
I can relate to Tessa and Will for obvious reasons.
I really admired their love for books, and I could relate to a lot of the things Tessa says.
I think everyone deserves their Will Herondale.

I am so happy that Cassie is continuing on with this world and writing TDA and TLH. I would keep reading her books even when I’m 60 years old. She is and will probably always be my favorite author. When the last book in the shadowhunter world is published, I’ll be extremely sad, but also grateful. She has created a world that will forever be remembered by me and many others, and for that I am incredibly thankful and grateful.

This is actually a lot shorter then I thought it would be, but all I really wanted to say was thank you. Short and simple, but thank you.
