General Info:
Title&Author: The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan
Series: First Book in the Heroes of Olympus series; I believe It’s a companion to the Percy Jackson and The Olympians series. You should definitely read that before starting this series.
Page Count:  553
Publication Year: 2010
Edition: Paperback
Source: Library

Summary:
Jason has a problem. He doesn’t remember anything before waking up in a bus full of kids on a field trip. Apparently he has a girlfriend named Piper and a best friend named Leo. They’re all students at a boarding school for “bad kids.” What did Jason do to end up here? And where is here, exactly?

Piper has a secret. Her father has been missing for three days, ever since she had that terrifying nightmare. Piper doesn’t understand her dream, or why her boyfriend suddenly doesn’t recognize her. When a freak storm hits, unleashing strange creatures and whisking her, Jason, and Leo away to someplace called Camp Half-Blood, she has a feeling she’s going to find out.

Leo has a way with tools. When he sees his cabin at Camp Half-Blood, filled with power tools and machine parts, he feels right at home. But there’s weird stuff, too—like the curse everyone keeps talking about. Weirdest of all, his bunkmates insist that each of them—including Leo—is related to a god.

My reviews of the PJO books:
PJO | The Lightning Thief Review
PJO | The Sea of Monsters Review
PJO | The Titan’s Curse Review
PJO | The Battle of the Labyrinth Review
PJO | The Last Olympian Review

I’m getting my own copies of the HoO series hopefully soon (:
Anyways I really enjoyed this Book. Reading it I couldn’t help comparing it to PJO and The Lightning Thief and if I’m being honest I preferred The Lighting Thied over it, I felt like it was a stronger start to the series then The Lost Hero was. I missed Percy. I also missed the silly titles that were in the PJO books. We did still have humor in the book, but not as much as in PJO but I still appreciated it.
Okay so thats it for the non-spoiler section. I really enjoyed the Book overall, I found it a bit slow somewhere in the middle but it kicks back up and gets interesting again. If you’ve read PjO and enjoyed it, I definitely recommend you read this (:

Now onto the SPOILERS!!
I didn’t take many notes reading this so I’m going to try.
Let’s start off by talking about the new characters.
Leo Valdez
Jason Grace
Piper McLean

Leo is definitely my favorite. I love him. Being Hephaestus ‘ kid is actually pretty cool. He’s an amazing character and I loved his PoV’s.
Piper, she’s pretty cool, I like her. She’s sweet. Being a child of Aphrodite is also pretty cool, I love her powers. Charmspeak which is basically Compulsion like from TVD , but without the blood drinking thing. I’ve always liked Aphrodite and I liked her even more in this Book. In case you didn’t know my favorite gods are Apollo and Aphrodite. ❤
Jason. I've heard people disliked him aka Christine, but I actually did like him. Not as much as Percy but he's still likeable and besides the exchange isn't  his fault, It's Hera's. No one likes her.
Okay so Percy…… What do you mean HE DOESN'T REMEMBER lol, but I've been spoiled drastically about this whole series so I know in the end Percabeth is fine though I don't know what they go through.  Gods I missed Percy and Nico so much It's not even funny. Can't wait to read The Son of Neptune; and Percy's the Son of Neptune so I'm guessing he's a big part. He better be!

Jason's coin weapon. For a second there I actually thought it was cooler then Riptide ,I was wrong. I mean It's still pretty cool though but I prefer Riptide. It also broke and that's not cute although it did save them as it broke so that was a nice way to say goodbye.

I loved how in the end they were all Cabin Leaders. Especially the way Piper took the the throne, yes! You go girl! I liked her even more then. Drew had it coming.

Let me just say I ship Jason & Piper – Jasper / Jiper- so hard. They're so cute and I don't care if that Reyna chick was his gf, not anymore because team Piper!
Also as he was recalling names I saw Hazel's name and I know she's one of the seven too (:

Were going to Greece next! OMG! That's so exciting 💞

Anyways let me wrap this up. Sorry if it was short and all over the place, I'll try to do better with Son of Neptune.
Like i said overall I really enjoyed the book, It's definitely worth it if you've read and liked the PJO series. You shouldn't really be up to this if you haven't read this book yet so I don't know why I'm restating all that.
Anyways
Rate: 4.5 / 5
Will I read the sequel The Son of Neptune ?
Yeeessss! (: xx

  1. Make sure you add the Kane Chronicles to your tbr list. Also by Rick Riordan, this is my favorite of his series. There are a few fun cameos from Percy (who reappears in the HoO soon) and some neat intersecting of story lines. The Kane Chronicles is based in Egyptian mythology and the characters are my favs.

    1. There was in excerpt at the end of The Lost Hero and it sounds very interesting, I’ve always been into Greek mythology but never thought much about Egyptian, but either way I love history and myths in general so I’m Sure I’ll love it. It’s definitely on my tbr (:
